Maria Teresa Cuellar “Teye” is a Colombian artist born in Bogota who studied at the School of Fine Arts of the National University and Los Andes University. Afterward, she traveled to Europe, where she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. She first exhibited her in 1959, when she participated in “El Salon de Pintores de Santamaria” in Bogota. She has also exhibited her works in important collective art events in Colombia, Puerto Rico and the United States. The collective exhibitions have included: “The Exhibition of Colombian Painting” at the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art in 1963; the II and III Graphic Arts Biennials at the Tertulia Museum in Cali in 1973 and ‘77;, and “Nine Artists from Colombia” at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C. In 1973 and 1978, the National Library in Bogota held a retrospective exhibit of her works, and in 1978, the Belarca Gallery in Bogota held an individual show of her paintings. Her work is owned by many international museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

María Teresa Cuellar “Teye” es un artista colombiana nacida en Bogotá, que estudió en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Nacional y la Universidad de los Andes. Después ella viajó a Europa, donde estudió en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Roma. Se expuso por primera vez ella en 1959 cuando participó en “El Salón de Pintores de Santamaría” en Bogotá. También ha expuesto su obra en importantes eventos de arte colectiva en Colombia, Puerto Rico y Estados Unidos. Las exposiciones colectivas han incluido: “La Exposición de Pintura de Colombia” en el Museo de Arte de Fort Lauderdale en 1963; las bienales II y III Artes Gráficas en el Museo la Tertulia en Cali en 1973 y 1977 y ‘Nueve artistas de Colombia’ en la sede del Fondo Monetario Internacional en Washington, DC. En 1973 y 1978 la Biblioteca Nacional de Bogotá celebró una exposición retrospectiva de sus obras y en 1978 la Galería Belarca en Bogotá realizó una muestra individual de sus pinturas. Su trabajo es propiedad de muchos museos internacionales como el MoMA de Nueva York.
